Statement

I am a part of history and I am a firm believer that all that has passed has affected me in some sort of way. I see it as a thread connecting one lifetime of thoughts, writings, and philosophies, with another, more concurrent time where ancient civilizations are referred to only in the past tense.

These thoughts, writings, and philosophies of the ancient world are understood primarily by way of later literary and visual works, but I would like to revisit antiquity. And live in it. Speak with them. Read what they write. Translate it even. And interpret it for myself.

I take in moments in classical literature and connect them with what I feel in this day and age through the use of Greco-Roman symbology and mythology. I challenge this seemingly narrow idea of classical realism and the fetishization of perfection. I use the imperfections of antiquity to reflect upon the instability of the present.
